Welcome to McDevitt & McManus Funeral Home

In 1880 James McDevitt established a funeral home which today represents the oldest funeral home in Broome County.  When founder, James McDevitt died in 1895, his son James F. McDevitt assumed proprietorship.  A second son, Edward L.McDevitt, joined the firm in 1898 and a partnership was formed.  James F. remained active in the business for 54 years and Edward L. for 77 years. Upon the death of James F McDevitt in 1946 a new partnership was formed.  It consisted of Edward L McDevitt, his son James G. who had joined the firm in 1932, and Robert L. the son of James F., an associate in the business since 1940.  Edward L. McDevitt died in 1975, James G. McDevitt died in 1976 and Robert L. McDevitt died in 2008.  Kevin P. McManus has been associated with the firm since March, 1970, and now is the owner/director, having assumed that responsibility in 2008, becoming the McDevitt & McManus Funeral Home LLC.
